Meet Kona Realtor, Penn Henderson: Born and raised in Colorado, Penn moved to Kona in 2001 with an affinity for the Big Island’s natural beauty, warm climate, stunning beaches, and massive volcanic mountains. His Rocky Mountain roots have thrived on the Big Island, where endless adventures, explorations, and new discoveries have become an elemental part of Penn’s active Hawaii lifestyle.
With 20-years notched into his belt, Penn has developed extensive knowledge and appreciation for the Big Island, as well as a deep understanding of its diverse climates, various topographies, Hawaiian culture, and the unique communities that make it such a special place to live.
“I often get asked how I ended up on the Big Island? Simply put, the signs were there. After 29-years of enduring the cold weather for nearly eight months of the year, the call to Hawaii grew strong. The time had come, and in my mind, the notion of moving to Kona was “now, or never.”
Within six weeks, Penn listed and sold his townhouse, made an offer to buy a Big Island home and closed on it, packed a 20-ft container with his household belongings, coordinated travel & quarantine requirements for two dogs, drove to Los Angeles with the dogs, shipped his car from Long Beach, scrambled through post 9-11 airport security – ultimately landing in Kona on Oct. 28, 2001.
In 2004, Penn found the ultimate piece of Kona paradise, and along with his family, built their home from the ground up. From a young age, Penn has always enjoyed carpentry, design, and landscaping – and even helped build a couple of houses while in college.
With a degree in finance and 25-years of executive sales & marketing experience, Penn is able to provide clients with an unparalleled level of service. Applying cutting-edge technology, implementing creative print campaigns and web-based marketing strategies, Penn’s real estate clients benefit from hands-on expertise that is unmatched.
Penn is a graduate of the University of Colorado (Boulder) and has recently earned several digital marketing certifications from Northwestern University, Google, and Facebook.
Of all the real estate companies on the Big Island, NextHome Paradise Realty leads the way as the most progressive, client-focused brokerage out there. Headed by the owner, and Principal Broker, Mike Drutar (RB), NextHome Paradise Realty has built a reputation as the real estate company with the highest level of service in the market.
Fueled by a laser-focused team of Kona Realtors, backed by a deeply engaged Principal Broker, and supported with savvy client-centric marketing, there couldn’t be a better environment for Penn to apply his skills.
Penn is a genuine family-man, enjoying these special times with his two boys and wife, Rani.
Highly involved with the Big Island sports community and local Kona events, the Henderson family can often be found at many of the Big Island swim-bike-run races.
Prior to Kona, Penn was an avid skier logging well over 3,000 ski days during his early years of racing and then later while ski-instructing throughout college.
Upon moving to the Big Island, he quickly shifted gears, embracing all that the Big Island has to offer. Cycling, hiking, and ocean swimming are amongst Penn’s favorite hobbies – especially when accompanied by his family.
Since 2005, Penn and Rani have organized Kona’s annual Jingle Bell Beach Run, the largest 5K run on the Big Island. The event brings the community together with over 1,000 participants with a portion of the proceeds donated each year to local charities benefiting children.
